The Ukulele Kids Club
My name is Samantha Hassold and I am the Social Media Chair and Program Manager for Ukulele Kids Club. I began connecting with Ukulele Kids Club two years ago when I was a Senior in the Music Therapy program at The University of Miami. As a music therapy student, I was excited to run a fundraiser for this amazing organization that supports music therapy and hospitalized children. From there my involvement has only grown. Now I manage all of the social media accounts and run the online summer program called Live From The Clubhouse. I love receiving pictures of our new UKC members (the children who have received ukuleles) from the music therapists at the hospitals and sharing them with our followers.
I know first hand how impactful music can be for healing and growth especially in children. And thoroughly enjoy seeing the smiling faces of our new members and the direct impact I can have on someone's life.
I think it is important to be grateful for the things we have and to support people in our communities in the best way we can.
With each child who receives a ukulele and music therapy, I always think of this quote: "As one person, I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person" - Paul Shane Spear. That is how I think of service. With each child served by music, another whole world is changed.
The Ukulele Kids Club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to harness the power of music to improve the well-being of children and families around the world. Through ukuleles and music therapy, we give the gift of music for life.
