A Magical Tale
As many of you know, I love an unexpected adventure. I try to say “yes” to things I’ve never done and step outside of my comfort zone to experience and learn new things.
“A magical tale” was created out of that desire.
I learned of a small group of photographers who were heading out to the deserts in California looking for the lowest light pollution to shoot a huge meteor shower that was taking place that night.
Photography, a night sky AND and meteor shower? How could I resist!?
We set out on a several hour drive to the middle of the desert. On the way, we learned of this particular property where the owner placed beautiful art sculptures in various places on his land as sort of a “scavenger hunt” where you could drive around the gorgeous desert terrain and find them.
Because of the meteor shower, they kept the park open all night (allowing us to explore the night sky until dawn). As the night grew darker and the stars above glistened with intensity, I found these magnificent horses. They felt as though they came alive under the illumination of the Milky Way.
This is a single frame capture and exactly as I experienced it.
This image stands out to me for so many reasons. Experiencing the night sky in this way was beyond anything I had ever done before. Getting lost in the majesty of the night sky and getting engulfed in the beauty, the wonder and the never ending vastness of possibilities. For me, creativity flows effortlessly at night... and then to have it magnified under the beauty of the night sky as well as a full on meteor shower and Milky Way was priceless.
To me, this image represents a storybook tale, one that is whimsical with never ending possibilities. It’s also a lesson in dreaming big... and allowing your creativity to flow.
Through this experience, I witnessed first hand how all of us view things differently and perceive a moment in time in our own unique way.
As the night drew on, there were moments where all of the photographers would be photographing the same exact location. There were ten of us capturing what would perceivably have been the same photo. Some photographers can get quite upset by this and think people are copying their shot. However, as we were photographing, it became clear that none of our photos would turn out the same and ended up being remarkably very different.
This showed me clearly that yes, your creativity, your voice, your imagination, your art, your thoughts, matter. Because all of us experience life differently and have our own mark to share with the world.
You matter. All of us experience life differently and have something to contribute in our own unique way.
“A Magical Tale” is a reminder that you matter and that we can all express our storybook tale and never ending possibilities to the world around us.
